Any girl entering grades 5th–10th (class of 2029-2034). Open to athletes from surrounding schools and communities.
Basketball shoes, reversible jersey, and a water bottle. We provide the balls.
Skill evaluation, competitive drills, and scrimmage play. Coaches evaluate effort, coachability, IQ, and skill.
Team formation is at the discretion of MN Rush coaches and directors based on performance at tryouts and previous seasons. Coaches will reach out to parents to offer roster spots. Not all participants are guaranteed placement.
Season runs April–July. Twice weekly practices in the STMA area. 6-7 AAU tournaments per season.

Players will go through skill evaluation, competitive drills, small-sided games, and scrimmages. Coaches and evaluators assess effort, coachability, basketball IQ, and skill level. Our goal is to give every athlete multiple opportunities to showcase their ability.
Players are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions for their grade. This gives coaches more time to evaluate and gives athletes the best chance to earn a roster spot. However, attending one session does not disqualify you from consideration.
The number of teams per grade depends on tryout turnout and the quality of the player pool. We may form multiple teams within a grade level. Our goal is to build competitive rosters that can compete at a high level in AAU tournaments across Minnesota.
Roster spots are offered at the discretion of MN Rush coaches and directors based on tryout performance, evaluator feedback, and previous AAU or winter season experience. Coaches will reach out directly to parents via email or phone to offer a roster spot.
Yes. We do not hold courtesy tryouts or invite athletes just to fill a gym. Every player who attends is competing for a real roster spot. If tryouts are listed as open, there are genuine spots available and every athlete has a real opportunity to earn their place.
Not all participants are guaranteed a roster spot. If your daughter doesn't receive an offer, it means she has not made a team this season. We appreciate the effort it takes to show up and compete, and we encourage her to keep working and try again next season.
If your daughter receives an offer, you will be asked to register for the team and pay a season deposit to secure the spot. Details on the deposit amount and deadline will be provided with the offer.
The season runs April through July. Teams practice twice weekly in the STMA area with evenings determined by coach and team availability. Teams play in 6-8+ AAU tournaments depending on age level, primarily in-state with select out-of-state events for older teams.

Yes. The $20 registration fee is a one-time fee that covers all tryout sessions for your daughter's grade. You can pay online or bring cash/check (made out to MN Rush) the day of. All athletes must register before attending.
